About the Book

Undefiled - The Sex Handbook for Married Couples is a book that answers the questions modern married couples have regarding their sexual relationship, marriage and own sexuality.  No topic is deemed to sensitive to approach, but the author does so with insight, care, sensitivity, sound Biblical exegesis and a fine sense of humour.  The premise for the book is Hebrews 13:4 "Marriage is honourable in all and the bed, undefiled."  Pastor Meleney Kriel writes from years of experience as a marriage and couples counsellor, together with her husband, Pastor Leon Kriel, as well as thorough and intensive research and passion for Biblical truth.  Stemming from her own experience of childhood abuse and the subsequent effect on her life, relationships and particularly her marriage, restored sexuality is a theme close to the author's heart.

Although the Christian concept of the sanctity of marriage is uncompromisingly presented throughout the book, the style is not overbearingly religious and the content balanced.  Furthermore, topics deemed a taboo by some of her peers, yet openly discussed or promoted in secular media, is researched, addressed and weighed by this author in a refreshing way.  Undefiled – The Sex Handbook for Married Couples, is the second book by Pastor Kriel, the first “Healing the Trauma of Sexual Abuse” was published by Minerva Press in the UK, and is presently available on Amazon.com.  A new edition of this book is in the pipeline as well as a children’s book on the facts of life.

The content of the Chapters: 

Chapter 1        What is Lawful and What is Not

An in-depth look at the practices deemed unlawful in the Scriptures, written with the premise that what is not lawful is perfectly clear.  The chapter contains a comparative look at secular sexual ethics vs. Christian sexual ethics.

Chapter 2        Sexual Freedom and Purity in Marriage

The lack of sexual freedom is an acute problem in marriages. Due to partners coming from different backgrounds and harbouring differing sexual paradigms, many couples find their views on sex incompatible. 

Chapter 3        The First Time – Before the Wedding

This is one of the chapters dealing specifically with first time sex and preparation for the life-long intimate relationship of a husband and wife.

Chapter 16      Sex and Money          

The first line in this chapter reads “... two things as powerful and personal as money and sex will have an effect on each other in a marriage” and the Scripture phrase from Song of Songs admonishes to catch the little foxes before they ruin the vineyard of your love.
