The Philosophy of Marraige It is amazing when two people find each other and make a covenant to share their lives. Out of two halves, one new unit is formed. It is a union that says I am all yours and you are all mine, yet in loosing myself to you, I find myself, because you give me confidence. I know you have my back. I know I have your approval, your loyalty and your trust. You let me be me. When we are both secure in who we are, in God, we dont smother, we dont posess, yet we are one. It is a mystery much like the mystery of the Trinity. We belong, we are one, yet we are seperate and whole. Our togetherness give us power to reallly be ourselves, our oneness allows for confident apartness, uniqueness and distinctiveness.
An excerpt from Chapter 5 (p 112 & 113) You are going to notice that she usually does not mind tidying up the room. She usually wakes up in an amorous mood, reaching lovingly for her husband as she stretches and gets ready to get up and make him a cup of coffee before he rises. THEN ONE DAY WITHOUT WARNING... She opens her eyes and the sight of one sock in the middle of the floor somehow mysteriously changes her! Not "Good Morning my Love, my Inspiration, my Protector!" But "You know what really ticks me off?" Wake up young Husband. Wake up right now and PRAY! Pray and quiver! "It ticks me off that you somehow think I exist to give you sex. clean up after you, make you coffee so YOU can sleep 10 more minutes and I must just do and be everything for you, and still have to be grateful for all that while you just go ahead and be the man and I must be your little helper!" (Long sentences are symptoms of PMS!) What you do not want to say under any circumstances is: "Got a period coming?" What you dont want to do is get into an argument with her! She has testosterone! Dont be a fool!
